Santa Clarita Valley is a beautiful, thriving community located just north of Los Angeles. It actually consists of 9 different communities: Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus, Stevensons Ranch and Valencia are part of Santa Clarita proper, while Agua Dulce, Castaic and Val Verde are outlying areas still considered part of the Santa Clarita community.

The City of Santa Clarita is the fourth largest city in Los Angeles County and the 24th largest city in the State of California based on the 2000 Census . Santa Clarita Valley is growing by leaps and bounds, its population is 220,000 and is predicted to grow to 260,000 by the year 2010.

Santa Clarita Valley has a rich long history including:

  • the first documented discovery of gold in California
  • the oldest existing oil refinery in the world
  • the first commercial oil field in California
  • the third longest railroad tunnel in the world
  • the second oldest schoolhouse in Los Angeles County
  • the Saugus Cafe is the oldest operating restaurant in Los Angeles County.
